Enhancing Learning Through Nature

Grounds Development Project 2022/2023

We are delighted to announce the installation of two beautiful storytelling chairs from Lindengate, marking another significant step in our grounds development journey. The first chair now takes pride of place in our Primary Garden, creating an enchanting outdoor learning space where imagination and nature meet.

These thoughtfully positioned chairs do more than simply provide seating – they create magical focal points where students can gather, share stories, and connect with the natural world around them. In our Primary Garden, the storytelling chair has already become a beloved feature, transforming outdoor learning sessions into memorable experiences and providing a peaceful spot for quiet reflection.

The installation of these chairs aligns perfectly with our broader vision for the grounds development project, where inclusion, accessibility, and biodiversity work together to create enriching educational spaces. Working alongside our dedicated volunteers, including local ecologists, lepidopterists, and nature enthusiasts, we are cultivating an environment where learning extends beyond classroom walls.

With over 80 different species identified across our 8-acre site by Michael Gilmore, these storytelling spaces offer unique opportunities for our students to engage with nature while developing their literacy and communication skills. The chairs serve as gathering points where stories of our local wildlife, seasonal changes, and natural discoveries can be shared and celebrated.

As we continue to develop our grounds, including future plans for our Senior Sensory Garden, these storytelling chairs represent our commitment to creating inclusive, nurturing spaces that inspire learning, foster well-being, and strengthen our connection to the natural environment.
